In a stunning display of talent and resilience, Seaman High School’s Lady Vikes etched their names in the history books by securing the 5A KSHSAA state girls basketball championship. The tournament, held at the iconic William L. White Auditorium in Emporia, provided the backdrop for an unforgettable journey that saw the #4 seeded Seaman team triumph over formidable opponents.

The Lady Vikes commenced their championship quest with a resounding victory over fellow UKC foe De Soto in the opening round, securing a 51-38 win. Undeterred by their #4 seed, Seaman then faced undefeated Andover in the semifinals. In a game marked by grit and determination, the Lady Vikes handed Andover their first loss of the year with a tight 49-45 scoreline.

The championship clash against Maize South was a culmination of Seaman’s remarkable season. The Lady Vikes demonstrated their mettle, sealing the championship with a convincing 54-41 victory. The win not only marked a crowning achievement for the team but also a historic moment for Seaman High School, as it was their first state title since 1991.

Finishing the season with an impressive 23-2 record, the Lady Vikes’ journey was characterized by teamwork, strategic brilliance, and unwavering determination.
